The foundation for this design is based on a careful examination of the historical context, the existing buildings, and a challenging topography.

The project was not based on a tabula rasa, but had to consider a variety of physical relationships: an existing spiral development including underground car park, increased requirements for demolition work, and a steep slope.
The stepped building structure is intended to adapt as well as possible to the topography and thus appear naturally "placed". The project is designed in such a way that a later conversion can be realised with little effort.
