Single-family home MIRA: terraced architecture on a hillside
The hillside single-family home is embedded into the sloping site as a terraced house. Stepped levels and generous glazing create clear connections between the living spaces and the surrounding landscape.

The name MIRA derives from the Latin mirari meaning “to look,” “to observe,” or “to marvel.” It refers to the deliberate orientation of the building toward the landscape and the interplay of view, space, and movement.
Stepped within the landscape
MIRA House is a modern single family house on a hillside, conceived as a carefully articulated terraced house embedded into a steeply sloping site. The hillside architecture follows the natural topography. The volume is stepped parallel to the slope, creating clearly legible levels and a differentiated sequence of interior and exterior spaces with a strong connection to the landscape. Within a gross floor area of 316 m², the programme is clearly zoned and efficiently organised.
Living across three levels
Access is provided from street level via the lower ground floor with garage, carport, and service areas. The private zones with bedrooms and retreat spaces are located on the main level and are naturally lit through targeted openings and terrain cuts. The upper floor accommodates the continuous living, dining, and kitchen area, which opens through large glazing onto terraces and layered outdoor spaces, reinforcing the spatial relationship between interior and landscape.
Strong horizontal lines
The horizontally articulated façades reflect the stepped massing of the building. Brick façades and metal elements define scale, construction, and structural clarity. The building establishes precise transitions between topography, use, and contemporary architecture, positioning itself as an integral part of the hillside landscape.
