RIFUGIO: Retreat with panoramic views and flexible use of space
The young couple with an affinity for design wanted to create a retreat in an almost alpine setting.
Project details
2.5 room granny flat
6 room house
300m2 living space (BFG)
1'885m3 volume (SIA 116)
The very steep slope initially required a systematic approach to the positioning of the house and the access to the building. The positioning on the upper, higher edge of the plot and access from above offered more advantages and focused the building entirely on the forest and mountain panorama to the south.
A studio apartment at the rear completes the set up and can be used flexibly: as a large home office for the two owners, as Airbnb accommodation or as a separate unit for the future offspring or parents.
A spacious master area, two further rooms with bathrooms and a 45m2 multi-purpose room are planned for the lower floor. The RIFUGIO lounge and dining area form the centre of the house. The large living space, designed under a pitched roof, is uncompromisingly oriented towards the breathtaking yet calming panoramic view of the forest and mountains.
