Multi-generation house WINSTON: Diversity and Community Under One Roof

The WINSTON multi-generation house brings together six units under one roof and combines apartments of various sizes with a shared lounge to create a versatile living concept.

At the edge of the slope

Multi-generation house |  Location: quiet residential street | Livingfloor: 780 m² | Volume: 4,764 m³ | 2x 4.5-rooms, 1x 3.5-room | Construction method: Masonry construction

Located on a quiet residential street, the WINSTON building is terraced parallel to the site and naturally follows the topography. The light-colored facade is punctuated by cantilevered balconies and delicate glass railings, which provide the individual apartments with spacious outdoor areas. Toward the base, the building gently blends into the terrain; the underground parking garage with 14 spaces and a bicycle storage room are located below ground and are accessed via a stairwell with an elevator. With a gross floor area of 780 m², the building creates a space that, despite its size, feels light and inviting.

Diversity Under One Roof

On the ground floor, two apartments are oriented differently from one another: a spacious 4½-room apartment facing west with its own patio, and a 3½-room apartment facing east with a south-facing patio. One floor up, two additional 3½-room apartments round out the offerings, while a communal lounge with a bathroom and office corner is available to all residents. This mix of floor plans creates spatial diversity and accommodates a variety of lifestyles, from traditional residential use to working from home. The well-thought-out architecture thus responds to changing needs and ensures the building’s high flexibility of use over time.

A View Over the Rooftops

At the very top, a spacious 4½-room penthouse crowns the building. A spacious master suite and a private terrace create a secluded retreat with sweeping views. The open-concept living, kitchen, and dining area opens up to the west onto a large rooftop terrace and is defined by a fireplace wall that lends the space warmth and tranquility. In this way, the penthouse combines spacious living with a strong connection to the outdoors and serves as the building’s crowning feature.
